Lisa Hugo speaking on stage

Win the Room · Executive communication

You’re the expert in the room, so why doesn’t your voice reflect it?

You know your subject, but when the room turns to you, your voice drops, the words feel smaller than the idea and the point you wanted to make gets lost. Imagine leaving your next leadership meeting knowing you explained it clearly, held your ground when questioned and gave people a reason to back your recommendation.

Lisa Hugo’s complete eight-module programme, self-guided and released one module a week, for professionals investing in their own development.

From the inside

You leave the meeting wishing they’d heard the version in your head

Your voice drops when it matters, so you push harder and come out louder than you intended. Now part of your attention is on your volume, when you need it on your point. You can take a complex issue apart and reach a sound recommendation, yet saying it aloud feels different: the words seem ordinary, the explanation grows longer and the closing line trails off.

A presentation gives you time to prepare. The unscripted moments give you seconds. A senior leader asks for an update, follows with a difficult question, and you’re still searching for your first sentence while the conversation moves on. Later, a colleague restates your idea with conviction and gets the attention you were hoping for.

Perhaps this began with a new company, a new country or a step up in responsibility. Conversations that once felt natural now make you hesitate. Underneath it is a harder question: if you’ve been passed over or kept waiting, how much did your delivery have to do with it? Nobody has told you clearly, or shown you what to change.

You want the room to recognise the capability you already bring, while you’re speaking.

From Lisa’s coaching clients

“His presentation clarity and commanding presence were key factors in their decision to promote him.”

His employer sent him to Lisa because they saw his potential. After coaching, they identified his presentation clarity and commanding presence as key factors in his promotion.

Your development, on your terms

When you’re investing in yourself, you want a programme that fits your life and your budget.

Many of the professionals Lisa works with have their coaching paid for by their employer. If you’re funding your own development, the decision feels different. You want something proven, something that fits around a demanding job, and something you can start without committing to the fee of private or live coaching.

Win the Room is Lisa’s programme in a format you work through on your own: eight modules and more than 40 professionally recorded video lessons, with workbooks, assessments, exercises and practice tasks for each module. You choose when you watch, when you practise and which real conversation you test each technique on.

It’s fully self-guided. There are no live sessions and no individual feedback from Lisa, which is how the programme is available at US$497. You get her method and the structure to apply it. The practice is in your hands.

Lisa’s approach, one module a week, starting with the very next conversation in your diary.

What it costs to wait

The longer your expertise goes unheard, the easier it is to overlook you

“They know their stuff, but when they speak, you don’t hear that confidence.”

If your stakeholders are saying that about you, that’s the gap you want to close. When you sound uncertain, they can question your judgement, even when your thinking is sound. Until your delivery changes, that impression can stick.

Your next meeting

Your thinking, someone else’s moment.

When your conclusion trails off and a colleague restates it clearly, the room can remember their contribution more readily than yours. Make your recommendation easy to hear, understand and connect to you.

Your next opportunity

The conversation you step back from.

A corridor update or an unexpected question can become a chance to show your judgement. Avoiding it may spare you the discomfort today, while leaving your capability less visible.

The pattern over time

More knowledge, the same hesitation.

Another qualification can deepen your expertise. Changing how you communicate it takes a different kind of work: a clear method, deliberate practice and specific adjustments to your delivery.

Why tips alone haven’t worked

You’ve probably already tried to fix this yourself.

You read the books, watch the videos and collect phrases that sound more confident. You promise yourself you’ll speak first in the next meeting. You may understand more about communication, yet find yourself doing the same things when the pressure returns.

Tips without a sequence don’t hold up under pressure. A phrase from one video and a breathing exercise from another rarely survive a senior leader’s challenge. Win the Room takes you through the skills in order: how you respond under pressure, then your voice and body language, then the structure of your message, then influence. Each skill builds on the one before.

You can’t change what you can’t hear. The programme starts with a self-assessment of your voice, presence, structure and connection, and the practice tasks ask you to record yourself and listen back. You learn to notice what the room notices: the voice dropping at the end of your recommendation, the hurried explanation, the opening that makes a strong idea sound tentative.

Real conversations make the best practice. Each module gives you something to try in a presentation, meeting or stakeholder conversation that’s already in your diary, so a new habit is tested in a low-stakes moment before you rely on it in a high-stakes one.

Will you actually do it?

You won’t be left with a library you never open.

If you’ve bought a course before and stopped after the second video, that’s the right thing to think about now. A self-guided programme only works if it gets done, and if you can hear that something has changed. Win the Room is built for both.

One module a week keeps you moving. Each week brings one module, one skill and one real conversation to try it on. You always know what to focus on, and each new module arrives after the last one has had time to settle into your meetings.

Short lessons fit a full diary. Lessons run to around 15 minutes, so a week’s viewing fits before a meeting, on a commute or at the end of the day.

Your recordings show you the change. You record yourself in the first module and again as you go. Listening back to your first recording a few weeks later is the clearest way to hear what’s different, and it gives you something concrete to keep improving on.

One module, one skill, one real conversation, every week.

Presence · Structure · Connection

Change how your message reaches the room.

Lisa’s approach rests on three things: presence, structure and connection. You may already recognise where your delivery loses impact. The next step is learning to change those habits while you’re actually speaking, especially when the pressure rises.

Lisa combines vocal technique with message structure and audience connection. You work on the recommendation you need to make, the story that makes your reasoning memorable and the pace, pauses and emphasis that help people take it in. You develop the message and the delivery together.

The lessons are short and practical, and the exercises show you exactly what to try next. You learn the framework from Lisa, then build the habit through your own practice, one adjustment at a time.

Inside Win the Room

Eight modules. 40+ video lessons. One new module every week.

The programme contains eight modules and more than 40 professionally recorded video lessons of around 15 minutes each. You develop the skills in sequence, from understanding your current habits to bringing voice, structure and influence together. A new module is released each week over eight weeks, which gives you time to practise each skill in real conversations before the next one builds on it. Within each week, you choose when to watch and when to practise, and you can come back to any released lesson before an important meeting.

Modules 1 to 4

Find your footing under pressure.

Understand what happens to your delivery when the stakes rise. Work on managing nerves, breath, pace, tone and body language, so you can communicate with more composure and a presence that feels natural to you.

Modules 5 and 6

Make complex thinking easy to follow.

Organise your message around the point people need to understand. Use practical frameworks and stories from your own work to explain your reasoning, make your ideas memorable and end with a clear recommendation.

Modules 7 and 8

Bring people with you.

Frame your ideas for the person in front of you, handle objections and build support. Bring the skills together in real scenarios, review your progress and leave with a roadmap for continued development.

Study the video lessons when it suits you, with a workbook, exercises and practice tasks for each module.

The method in practice

Soft-spoken, hedging, overlooked. Then heard.

The lessons in this programme teach the approach Lisa uses with her coaching clients. The people below learned it with Lisa’s personal input: Tahla in a previous Win the Room cohort, and Orkun, Sharad and Arun one to one. Each of them knew their subject well, and each found their delivery was holding it back. Their stories show what changes when the techniques are practised and applied.

Tahla Rais · Win the Room, previous cohort

“Colleagues started noticing the difference without knowing I was taking any training.”

Tahla RaisWin the Room participant

I’m really glad I joined Lisa’s Win The Room program. In my role, I regularly present to senior leaders, explain technology to business teams, and take part in discussions where I need to think on my feet. I knew my subject, but I didn’t always feel I was getting my message across as well as I could.

Watching my first recording was an eye-opener. My delivery was quite flat, I used a lot of “ums” and “ahs,” and I sometimes took too long to get to the point. Being asked an unexpected question could also throw me off.

Over the eight weeks, Lisa helped me work on these things step by step. We worked on how to structure my message, use pauses, emphasise key words, and bring more energy into my voice. It took practice, but I started using what I learned in my meetings and presentations, and gradually it felt more natural.

What meant the most was that colleagues started noticing the difference without knowing I was taking any training. That gave me confidence that the work was paying off. Recently, I was unexpectedly asked to speak in front of a large auditorium. I was able to gather my thoughts and speak clearly, with much more confidence than I would have had before.

I also appreciated being able to practise with the group, make mistakes, and learn from each other. Lisa gave honest feedback and encouraged me throughout the process.

I still have things to work on, but I’ve seen a real change in how I speak and how I feel going into important conversations. Thank you, Lisa, for your patience and support. I would happily recommend the program to anyone who knows what they want to say but needs help saying it with confidence.

Orkun · Overlooked despite his expertise

His ideas were strong. His delivery was undermining them.

Orkun opened with “I was thinking that maybe…” and “This might not be the right approach, but…”. His voice was weak and monotone, his posture stiff and his eye contact hesitant. Lisa worked with him on vocal presence, posture and conviction, one element at a time.

Within weeks, colleagues were paying closer attention, implementing his ideas and seeking his opinion. Lisa recounts that he was promoted six months later and headhunted for a senior role in Germany a year after that.

Sharad · A partnership presentation

He needed the board to see the leader behind the expertise.

Sharad was a principal at a consulting firm preparing to pitch for partner. His presentation contained his achievements and technical expertise, but gave the board little sense of how he led when it mattered.

Lisa helped him draw on a real experience managing his team through a crisis on an oil rig. He opened with that story, then used his evidence and achievements to support it. The presentation gave the board a concrete example of his leadership before asking them to assess his credentials.

He secured the partnership. Lisa is clear that the presentation was a contributing factor, rather than the sole reason. The useful lesson is how he made existing experience more persuasive, and storytelling has its own module in this programme.

Arun · An industry conference

He almost sent someone else because speaking didn’t feel like him.

Arun saw himself as an introvert. His delivery was stiff and monotone, and changing his voice felt like putting on an act. Lisa began with one adjustment at a time: using a pause for emphasis, then developing vocal variety through practice.

He delivered the conference presentation, enjoyed connecting with the audience and, according to Lisa’s account, received approaches from investors and requests for interviews afterwards.

The change began with learnable skills. He developed a delivery that felt like his own, rather than waiting to become someone who naturally loved speaking.

“She helped improve my confidence and gave practical guidance on presentation skills: things like pacing, using pauses effectively, and bringing more energy into delivery.”

“Feeling more confident in my ability to hold and entertain the room.”

Your teacher

The voice expertise behind the programme.

Lisa’s background on stage gives her a practical understanding of how voice and presence affect an audience. Her work with executives, founders and professionals brings those techniques into meetings, presentations and leadership conversations.

She is the author of Voice of Influence: Speak Like a Leader, Lead Like a Visionary and has coached more than 1,000 clients globally. In Win the Room, you learn her approach through the same structured video lessons, workbooks and exercises that she uses with her coaching clients.

Whether you’ve seen her teach in a masterclass or you’re meeting her approach for the first time, this is where you start applying it to your own communication.

Who it’s for

For experts who want their delivery to match what they know.

Win the Room suits people who already know their subject, are motivated to practise on their own and want it to come across with the same weight when they speak. You may recognise yourself in one of these.

Self-funded professionals

You’re ready to progress and don’t want to wait for your company to fund your development. You want a proven, structured method you can pay for yourself and fit around your job.

Professionals who present

You lead meetings, pitch ideas or present to clients, and you want more presence and polish when the room is listening.

Leaders and aspiring leaders

You know leadership happens through communication, and you want the skills to bring a team with you and earn their trust.

Technical experts

Your ideas are strong, but they can get lost in the detail. You want to explain them clearly while still sounding like yourself.

Founders and entrepreneurs

You need investors, customers and your own team to believe in your vision. How you say it shapes whether they do.

Career changers

You’re stepping into a new role, company or country, and you want to stand out from the first conversation.

Your investment

Lisa’s complete programme, for US$497.

Think about the conversations already ahead of you. A proposal you need senior leaders to support. A pitch where the audience must understand why your idea matters. A question you need to answer clearly, without retreating into more detail.

  • Eight modules and 40+ HD video lessons
  • Workbooks, assessments, exercises and practice tasks for every module
  • Lisa’s frameworks for structure, storytelling and stakeholder buy-in
  • A new module released each week for eight weeks, to watch whenever suits you
  • Minimum 12 months’ access to the course materials

Your working conversations become the place to practise, so you don’t have to wait until you feel completely ready. One payment of US$497 gives you everything above.

Spread across the eight weeks, that’s about US$62 a week. Compare it with the books, courses and videos you may already have paid for, which gave you tips but no sequence, or with one promotion round where your delivery holds you back. For context, Lisa’s private coaching starts at US$10,000.

Before you join

Make an informed decision.

How does Win the Room work?

A new module of video lessons is released each week for eight weeks, and you watch it whenever suits you that week. Each module comes with a workbook, exercises and practice tasks you apply to real presentations and conversations. You record yourself, listen back and adjust, building one skill on top of the last.

Is there any live coaching or contact with Lisa?

No. This is a fully self-guided programme, with no live group sessions and no individual feedback from Lisa. That’s what keeps the investment at US$497. If you’d like Lisa’s personal input, email Helen about Lisa’s coaching options.

How is this different from Lisa’s live coaching?

In Lisa’s live coaching, she hears you speak and gives you personal feedback. Win the Room gives you her curriculum, workbooks and practice tasks without the live element, so you work through it independently.

Is this relevant if I’m already an experienced professional?

Yes. Win the Room is designed for executives, leaders, founders and professionals who want their communication to reflect their expertise. You can use the skills in everyday meetings as well as formal presentations, pitches and high-pressure conversations.

Will I have to change my personality?

A new technique can feel unfamiliar before it feels natural. As Arun’s story illustrates, you can begin with a pause or a small change in emphasis, then build through practice. The aim is a voice and presence that feel like you, with greater control over how you communicate.

When do I get access?

Module 1 is available once you enrol, and a new module is released each week after that until all eight are open. Your login details arrive by email after payment.

Can I pay in instalments?

Win the Room is a single payment of US$497.

What if I fall behind?

Released modules stay open, so you can catch up whenever a busy week gets in the way. There’s no deadline to finish within the eight weeks, and you keep access to the course materials for at least 12 months.

How much time should I set aside?

There are 40+ lessons of around 15 minutes each, plus exercises and practice tasks. An hour or two a week, plus the conversations you’re already having at work, is a manageable pace. Because a new module arrives each week, you always know what to focus on, and you can catch up on any earlier module if a busy week gets in the way.

How long can I access the programme?

You have access to the course materials for a minimum of 12 months, so you can revisit lessons, revise techniques and refresh your skills before important moments.

Can I move up to live coaching later?

Yes. If you find you’d like Lisa’s personal feedback, email Helen and she’ll talk you through Lisa’s live coaching options.

Can my employer pay?

Yes. Win the Room develops executive communication, leadership presence and stakeholder influence. If your employer needs an invoice, email Helen at [email protected].

Your next important conversation

Make your next important conversation the one you start preparing for differently.

You’ve already made time to understand what could improve your communication. Choose one situation coming up where you want to be clearer, more composed or more influential, and start the first module with that conversation in mind. Start while that conversation is still ahead of you.
